ANALYSIS – Digitalisation of Mediterranean business services boosted by pandemic

Digitalisation was already underway in Mediterranean organisations providing services to business. The Covid-19 pandemic and associated lockdowns have reinforced the argument of its urgent necessity.
“The health crisis has permanently changed the way work is organised, notably with the digitalisation of business services (…), as management and staff are confined to their homes due to the lockdown,” noted Emmanuel Noutary in December 2020. Taking part in an EBSOMED programme webinar, the ANIMA Investment Network general delegate reminded however that, “it wasn’t done overnight and has been in preparation for many years. Not in anticipation of this particular crisis, but to be able to develop remote services. This has become even more significant in today’s context.”
ANIMA organized several other virtual meetings around the same theme, which allowed best practices and lessons learned during the crisis to be shared. The chairman of the TIA (Tunisian Investment Authority) Beligh Ben Soltane was already convinced of the usefulness of digitalisation “in a spirit of transparency and to make procedures easier and more swift.” The pandemic has served to substantiate the approach adopted by his organisation, the sole gateway for Tunisian and overseas investors…
